My health journey began when I was diagnosed with A.D.H.D. at a very young age. Several years later, I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis and a couple of other autoimmune diseases. Most recently, hypoglycemia was added to the list.
Enter my “catch-22” cycle. My daily medications suppress my appetite, and then if I do not eat, my blood sugar drops and I “glitch.” I thought I knew what to do and believed I was eating healthy enough. Being a sales representative with an “on the go” lifestyle didn’t help either.
It wasn’t until being diagnosed with hypoglycemia and I becoming a certified health coach, I realized that I put myself in this vicious cycle. I knew something had to change, I discovered that a healthy lifestyle and solid nutrition are big game-changers when existing with different illnesses. Just because I was eating healthy didn’t mean that I was consuming all the right types or enough healthy foods. I believe, that instead of more pills and medication, the power of food and wellness should be the first line of defense,
Everyone has a busy life. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you have going on, there never seems to be enough hours in the day. Unfortunately, our health, nutrition, and wellness are always the first to get scratched off the To-Do List. We may tell ourselves that it is only for a week. But that week turns into a month, a year, or more. By that time, we have created such a habit, and on autopilot, that we believe any changes will disrupt the muscle-memory of our everyday life.
I have struggled with my weight all of my young adult life. Through college and graduate school, my focus was on my studies and not my personal health. I have tried different diets throughout the years, but any weight I lost would gain back after stopping. Worse I began to see healthy living as an impossible goal.
Angela’s personalized coaching has helped me set realistic health goals and reach them! I have learned how to make healthy substitutions and find healthy eating habits that fit my life. These changes are not a phase of a fad diet but healthy lifelong choices.
